Privacy information

North Northamptonshire Council collects certain information about you when you use www.kettering.gov.uk . 

We collect:

  • IP addresses when you complete and submit any of our on-line forms
  • Information on how you use the site, using cookies
  • Payment information when completing online payments

Your information (otherwise than payment information) is stored on our Jadu Content Management System and is accessed by staff in our Website Team for the following purposes:

  • Improve the site by monitoring how you use it
  • Gather feedback to improve our services

Your information may be shared with other relevant teams for the following purposes:

  • Respond to any service requests, feedback or complaints
  • Allow access to our services and carry out transactions
  • Provide you with information regarding our services
  • Process job applications
  • Send email alerts to users who request them

Your information in relation to online forms will be held by our Website Team for one month after which it will be securely deleted.

We will never sell your information or share it with other organisations for marketing, market research or commercial purposes.

Where your data is stored

We store your data on secure servers in the European Economic Area (EEA).  Some of our suppliers are based outside of the EEA.  We have strict controls over how and why your data can be accessed.


The council uses the services of Allpay which allows you to pay your Rent, Council Tax, Business Rates, Sundry Debts or Housing Benefit payments by cash, cheque or debit card.  This can be done via outlets displaying the Allpay sign – the outlet cannot view your payment details or your accounts held with the council. Allpay require your name, address, telephone number and email address for card payments to allow for Strong Customer Authentication in line with recent changes to legislation.  More information is available on Allpay’s Privacy Policy.

For payments made by credit or debit cards directly with the council, either through our website, over the telephone or via our Customer Service Centre, the council uses the facilities of an e-commerce company – Worldpay.  All communication between you and Worldpay is encrypted and can only be interpreted by Worldpay.  The council does not store or have access to your card details.  More information is available on Worldpay’s Privacy Policy

Keeping your data secure

Sending information over the internet is generally not completely secure and we cannot guarantee the security of your data while it’s in transit.  Any data you send is at your own risk.

We have organisational and technical security features in place to keep your data secure once we receive it, either via the internet or directly from you or a third party.

Disclosing your information

Your information will only be used for the purpose/s it was originally provided for and shared with the relevant members of staff.  It will only be shared with other teams within the Council or partner agencies where the law allows or requires it, or to improve the service you receive.

We may pass on your personal information to law enforcement bodies such as the Police, government authorities and other organisations for the prevention and detection of crime or fraud.

We will never sell or pass on your personal information for marketing purposes.

Your rights

You have a right of access to information held about you by the council. If you believe the information held about you is incorrect, you have a right to request the Council to put it right. 

With effect from 25 May 2018, you may also, in some circumstances, have a right to:

  • request information held about you is erased
  • request the processing of your data is restricted
  • object to the processing of your data
  • withdraw your consent to the processing of your information
