Explore Kettering's green spaces with Keep Discovering Kettering Park Bingo

Published: Tuesday, 15th September 2020

Families looking for things to do can explore the town’s green spaces, thanks to the launch of the free Keep Discovering Kettering Park Bingo passport trail.

The trail invites participants to discover green spaces across Kettering to find more than 20 animals and other characters on wooden posts around the town’s parks including Desborough Recreation Ground, Meadow Road Park and Ise Valley Park.

Each park has a different character to find, and some have several to find in one park. Participants can place their passport over the stencil and use a crayon to colour it in.

Please remember that social distancing must be adhered to at all times in outdoor parks and open spaces. Always ensure to keep at least 2 metres away from other people whilst carrying out the bingo trail and sanitise your hands regularly. Shirley Plenderleith, Head of Public Services, said: “The scheme forms part of the legacy left by the successful Beat the Street programme that took place across Kettering in autumn 2019 and is funded by Public Health Northamptonshire.

“The evaluation of the Beat the Street programme showed that adults and children became more active following the game and this scheme aims to build on that success and ensure that Kettering residents are staying active whist doing a fun, inclusive activity.”

“Kettering Borough Council and Groundwork Northamptonshire have been working hard to continue to provide activities and campaigns to keep people healthy with the launch of Keep Healthy Kettering.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to discover what Kettering has to offer and you may find a park or green space that you didn’t know about.”

Passports can be picked up from several venues across Kettering, including Rothwell library, Desborough Library, Kettering Corn Market Hall and more.  Printed passports contain a guide to the locations of the posts, you will need to explore the park to find the post and a blank space for your rubbing so you can collect them all.
