New longer-term COVID-19 testing site opens in Kettering
Walk-in coronavirus testing is now available in Kettering town centre
Update: There is currently significant demand on the testing network, with labs already operating at capacity. As such, the government has implemented much tighter guidelines around customers attending the walk-in test facility. Walk-in sites, such as at London Road, can still accept walk-ins without an appointment but only if the customers are displaying symptoms. The number of customers that can be accepted without an appointment is significantly reduced currently.
The new Local Testing Site (LTS) provides longer-term testing availability than the Mobile Testing Units which are also deployed around the county.
It is be open at London Road car park, NN15 7QA.
Opening hours for the launch of the testing site are:
• 8.00am to 8.00pm, seven days a week
Improving access to COVID-19 testing is an important part of county-wide efforts to control the spread of the virus, and the new facility will give people in Kettering a longer-term option for getting tested in their area.
Anyone experiencing any of the following coronavirus symptoms, however, mild, should isolate at home with the rest of their household and book a test:
• New, continuous cough
• High temperature
• Loss or change in sense of smell or taste
Tests can be booked online at nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 119.
People who test positive for COVID-19 will be helped by the NHS test and trace service to identify the people they’ve recently been in contact with so they can be alerted.
Anyone who has had close recent contact with someone with coronavirus must then self-isolate for 14 days, if they are advised to do so by the NHS test and trace service, to help contain the spread of infection.
