Privately Rented Property Advice
The Government has provided advice for landlords and tenants in the Private Rented Sector which provides useful information on measures relating to notices of seeking possession, court action of possession cases and property access and Health and Safety obligations in the context of Coronavirus.
Housing Options and Homelessness
We understand it is a difficult time to be exploring your housing options, but our Housing Options team remains available to provide you with advice and assistance on your housing situation. Please contact us for advice via telephone on 01536 410333 or by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org where our Customer Service team will take details of your circumstances and direct your enquiry to the relevant officer. Housing solutions are restricted at this time as people are advised not to move house and adverts on our Keyways allocation scheme are temporarily suspended, however the Council continues to support those that are homeless or threatened with homelessness in line with statutory duties and take whatever steps it can to help prevent and relieve our customers’ homelessness.
In conjunction with its partners, the Council has accommodated and continues to support all rough sleepers that were engaged with rough sleeping outreach services and/or were utilising the winter night shelter in Kettering in order to reduce to risk of Covid-19 to this vulnerable group. Please report any new rough sleepers or evidence of rough sleeping to the Council or to Accommodation Concern’s Rough Sleeper Outreach service on 01536 416560.
We appreciate that many of our customers may be experiencing financial hardship at this time which may compromise their ability to pay their housing costs. The Council strongly advises all tenants to tell their landlord or mortgage provider if they are having any difficulties in meeting rent or mortgage payments and to seek advice as early as possible.
Keyways Housing Register

The Keyways Local Authorities have temporarily suspended the advertising and allocating of properties through the Keyways website. This means that applicants will not see any property adverts nor be able to place bids on properties. We appreciate the impact that this will have on our customers in significant housing need, however unfortunately our normal lettings process and house moves cannot currently be carried out safely and government advice is to delay house moves wherever possible. We thank our customers for their understanding and patience at this time and will continually review our position in line with government guidance.
Our Keyways team continues to process applications therefore we encourage our customers with a housing need to continue to apply to the Keyways Housing Register online at www.keyways.org.uk in order that your application can be assessed and processed during this time. We encourage that applicants submit supporting evidence by email (photographs of documents will suffice currently) to firstname.lastname@example.org or via post marked for the attention of the Keyways team.
