National recognition for council’s shared Street Scene services

Corby and Kettering Shared Street Scene Services have won both ‘Best Performer’ and ‘Most Improved’ categories at the 2019 Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) Performance Network Awards.

The Refuse and Recycling team have won ‘Best Performer’ and the Street Cleansing team have won ‘Most Improved’ for the second year in a row. Being nominated and winning in the first year of Joint Working highlights the achievements and continued improvements to the standards of service delivery.  Kettering and Corby Borough Council could not be in better hands moving forward.

The awards show the commitment of the team to continually improve our service and performance levels.  Over the past seven years the teams within Street Scene Services have regularly and consistently been recognised as top performers, and these current accolades continue that trend. A great achievement for the new shared service.

The announcement does more than reflect the Council’s increased performance – it throws light on its ability to meet the current financial challenges while improving productivity. The APSE Performance Network Awards provide an opportunity for information sharing between other organisations that recognise the hard work and dedication involved in delivering much-needed and valuable services to communities.

The APSE awards are unique in that they are based on actual performance data, which is assessed against a complex range of performance indicators, including cost, quality, workforce development and value-for-money.  The data is independently verified for accuracy and integrity following an initial assessment.

The awards are designed to recognise frontline services, delivered to local communities, by local councils.
