Kettering Bedding Centre, Regent Street, set for demolition following fire

Published: Thursday, 23rd May 2019

Kettering Borough Council confirmed today, 23rd May that demolition work is set to start on the former Kettering Bedding Centre structure, following a fire on 13th May.

Contractors DJH Ravcon have been appointed by the building’s insurers and will be working closely with the council’s building control officers and structural engineers. Demolition works are likely to take some weeks and may have to be done in stages.

The immediate priority continues to be to work towards ensuring it is a safe environment, starting with the removal of the parts of the building that are at risk of collapse.

We will continue to work hard to get to a position where it is safe for residents to return to their homes. Those affected have been allocated a specific named council officer each to provide daily updates throughout the recovery process.

Further updates will be provided during the course of the works. The latest general information around the incident can be found at www.kettering.gov.uk/regentstreetfire
