Residents Parking Consultation – the results are in

Two parts of Kettering may become residents parking only

Kettering Councillors will be considering the results of the recent residents parking consultation at a meeting on 17th April, and will hear that two parts of town may be in line for new restrictions to be put in place later this year.

Kettering Borough Council undertook consultation on proposed residents parking in four areas of the town between 1st February and the 1st March 2019, following requests for additional controlled parking area. The outcome will be considered by the Executive Committee on the 17th April.

A hand delivered questionnaire and letter drop to each property was followed up with individual visits by officers to ensure that all residents were able to return their forms and have their say.

The responses have now been analysed in conjunction with the Northamptonshire County Council Highways Team.

Zone M (Westhill area) will be recommended for adoption as a Residential Parking Zone, as 70% of residents indicated that they would be in support of such a scheme. Any new zone would have similar restrictions to those already in place in Kettering.

A small discrete zone is also being recommended for implementation on The Drive as residents very clearly indicated that this was their desire, and County Council Highway officers confirmed that this would meet the technical requirements for an enforceable zone.

Voting across all the other areas which have been consulted (see list below) did not see sufficient support for new zones or create any new viable areas. Details of these other voting results will be available from the 10th April, when papers are published for the Executive Committee.
