Local People Thrilled by Replica Spitfire in Kettering Last Weekend
Last Saturday, Kettering Borough Council hosted a RAF100 celebration event on Kettering’s Market Place to mark the 100th Anniversary of The Royal Air Force.
The event highlight of a full-sized replica Spitfire attracted around 1,000 people into the town centre.
Visitors to the event also had the chance to learn about the past and current work The Royal Air Force undertakes from serving members, as well as recruiting opportunities in the Royal Air Force Careers tent. In addition, members of the public were invited to hear real life stories from veterans and members of The Royal Air Force Association and the next generation 1101 Kettering Squadron of the Royal Air Force Cadets.
Guy Holloway, Head of Corporate & Cultural Services at Kettering Borough Council, said:

Cllr Scott Edwards, Kettering Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community, Leisure and Youth, said:
“This event was definitely something new and exciting for the people of Kettering, who came out in their hundreds to see this Replica Spitfire, even in the rain. It was great to see the Market place and town centre alive with activity.”
