Colin Smith: ‘Investigations of a Dog’ exhibition
2nd June – 14th July, Alfred East Art Gallery, Free Entry
This summer the Alfred East Art Gallery is excited to be hosting the first solo exhibition in many years from international artist Colin Smith, running from 2nd June to 14th July. Colin Smith works from his studios in London and Ghent, Belgium and has work in the permanent collections of prestigious galleries all over the world as well as a keen following of private collectors.
Colin’s work is contemporary and bold in both colour and style. His paintings often seem to be simple scenes from everyday life, making the viewer feel slightly voyeuristic. However, this is not the case instead, each scene is carefully invented by the artist himself. On knowing this, the viewer cannot help but see more on second, third and fourth glance, just as the artist intended.
The Alfred East Art Gallery has one of Colin’s works Wardrobe II in its’ own permanent collection. As part of this exhibition, Wardrobe II will be on display alongside others from the Wardrobe series. The exhibition promises a variety of the artists’ work from all over the world as well as new works created especially for this exhibition and never seen before.
There is an opportunity for visitors to meet the artist at the private viewing on Saturday 2nd June, 3pm – 6pm at the Art Gallery. All are welcome.
Guy Holloway, Head of Corporate & Cultural Services at Kettering Borough Council, said:

Cllr Scott Edwards, Kettering Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community, Leisure & Youth, said:
