Consultation on Civil Penalties under the Housing Act 2004

Under the Housing and Planning Act 2016, powers were given to the Local Housing Authority to issue Civil Penalties of up to £30,000 as an alternative to prosecutions for certain offences under the Housing Act 2004.

Kettering Borough Council have developed a matrix for determining the amount of penalty to be issued and amended our Private Sector Enforcement Policy in order to formally adopt Civil Penalties into our range of enforcement options.

The Policy will be presented for Cabinet approval in June 2018 and, if adopted, will become operational shortly afterwards. In order for any representations / comments or observations to be considered before the policy is submitted for adoption, this period of consultation will run until 30 April 2018.
