Kettering gets new look for Cultural Quarter
New lamp post banners highlight what's on offer in the town
The Cultural Quarter of Kettering town centre has been given a new look and feel with the addition of some new lamp post banners.
The Cultural Quarter can be found to the south of the town centre and includes the newly regenerated Market Street, Sheep Street and Market Place. The area features a variety of independent shops, bars, restaurants and cafes as well as the Manor House Museum, the Alfred East Art Gallery and The Yards, a unique and quirky shopping area off Market Street.
The lamp post banners have been installed ahead of some popular events in Kettering’s calendar this year, including The Women’s Tour on 7th June, Kettfest shortly afterwards and then Kettering by the Sea over the summer holidays. The new banners follow the recent renewal of the town centre’s ‘Purple Flag’ award in recognition of the vibrant and safe night time economy.
The lamp post banners are just one of a number of measures that are to be taken to further improve the look and feel of Kettering’s town centre including the erection of new bunting in the Market Place.
Kevin Jones from ‘The Yards’ in Kettering said:
“The new lamp post banners in Kettering’s Cultural Quarter will help Kettering set out its distinctive offer to visitors. I understand that the Council has more plans for promoting the town centre in the future and we look forward to working with them to help make this a success. ”
Guy Holloway, Head of Corporate and Cultural Services said:
“Kettering has some wonderful buildings and architecture. The Cultural Quarter provides a great place to visit, take in some art and culture, have some food and do a spot of shopping. If you haven’t been into Kettering recently, why not pop in and take a look?”
Rosie Bossart, Manager at Kino Lounge, said:
“We are delighted to see Kettering’s Cultural Quarter and what’s on offer, being highlighted. At the Kino Lounge we have embraced the local heritage and we’re happy that this aspect of Kettering is being promoted.”
