Have you ever wanted to submit your best piece of art to be exhibited in a gallery but never had the opportunity? Now’s your chance! For one year only the Alfred East Gallery has amended their terms and allowed this competition to be open to everyone, regardless of their different abilities or age!
Exhibited from the 15th April until the 20th May, this cash prized competition will allow us to recognise and support a larger range of artists from across the region and as a result create an art exhibition that is affordable for everyone.
The three submission dates and times for the exhibition are Thursday 6th April, 10:30-4pm Friday 7th April, 10:30-4pm and Saturday 8th April, 10:30-3pm and must be delivered to Alfred East Art Gallery, Sheep Street, Kettering NN16 OAN. Submissions can only be accepted during these times.
The gallery staff pledges to display all of the art work submitted, as long as it meets the set criteria laid out in the application form.
If the achievement of having your very own work exhibited isn’t exciting enough, there are also cash prizes to be won. These range from the Overall Winner who will win £500, Highly commended, winning £250, Commended, winning £150, and Print prizes, taking home £100, with youth prizes still to be confirmed! Additionally, there will be a People’s choice award, where members of the public are given the chance to vote for their favourite piece of work.
Everyone is invited to attend the preview evening on Thursday 13th April from 6pm til 8pm where all prizes will be awarded!
So if you have a piece of work that you have always wanted to exhibit or just feel inspired to create something new that meets our criteria, please do enter for the exciting opportunity to showcase your talents and the chance to win a cash prize!

Guy Holloway, Head of Corporate & Cultural Services at Kettering Borough Council, said:
“We have some wonderful local talent and the prizes encourage artists to continue making art and could also help to fund their work. So talented artists, why not enter yourself?”
Cllr Jan Smith, Kettering Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community & Culture, said:
“We’d like to invite you to submit your artwork for inclusion in our new ‘open’ exhibition for 2017. We want to challenge artists to submit some of their best artwork and come up with and embrace a new way of working. Anyone can submit artwork to the exhibition and the Gallery pledge to display all of the submissions entered.”
