Sun, Sand and Kettering by the Sea
Four weeks of summer fun at Kettering by the Sea is another huge success!
Kettering’s Market Place seaside extravaganza has proved to be a popular destination for another year, offering a number of free activities and events for families to enjoy for the summer season.
The 15 metre sandpit with 20 tonnes of sand, splash fountain and daily entertainment saw hundreds of families visiting the area to take part in activities such as: table tennis, the Creation Station, hoop dance, West Lodge Farm animals, Punch and Judy, ConnectFM summer fun, market stalls from The Yards and so much more!
The Big Screen showed a range of children’s favourites and the variety of activities, events and shows saw people of all ages getting involved and testing out their skills.
Steve the Magician made a few appearances throughout the four weeks to entertain and amaze the children, along with the KBA steel band who added to the great atmosphere with their fantastic performances.
Some of the activities were hosted by local companies, making Kettering by the Sea a great platform for them to promote their work and get involved with the community.
Emma Quin, who visited Kettering by the Sea said:
“The Council organising this event to provide a fun place to go for the children puts Kettering on the map for all the right reasons.”
Guy Holloway, Head of Corporate and Cultural Services at Kettering Borough Council, said:
“Kettering by the Sea always provides a good opportunity to bring the community together and create a lovely atmosphere that can be enjoyed by all. The range of activities meant that there was something for everyone and it was great to see all the children having so much fun. Work is already underway for the next lot of festivities, so definitely keep an eye out for the details.”
Councillor Lesley Thurland, Kettering Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community and Culture, said:
“Once again Kettering by the Sea has been a fantastic event, drawing thousands of people into the town centre for fun in the sun. For the families who did not travel abroad for the season, this free community event has been the ideal way to spend the summer holiday and we are extremely grateful for everyone who helped make it a memorable summer.”
