Coronavirus - Our Services

Bins and Waste

Our collections, including clinical waste, are running as normal.

Household Recycling Centres

Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) are open for essential use only, subject to the following rules.

Recycling Bins

For blue bin recycling we will accept side waste if it is contained in a clear plastic bag or an open carboard box. We will accept cardboard boxes that are flattened and neatly stacked next to the blue bin. If residents regularly have extra recycling they can have an additional recycling bin free of charge.

For grey/green bins  we will not take any side waste. Residents can request an additional bin free of charge.

Disposal of personal waste during the Coronavirus Pandemic

If you are showing symptoms of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), personal waste such as used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths must be stored securely within disposable rubbish bags. These bags should be placed into another bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste. This must be put aside for at least 72 hours before being put in your usual external household waste bin.

Other household waste can be disposed of as normal.

New Bins

New bins are continuing to be delivered.

Fly Tipping

During the Covid 19 situation, the Council will continue not to tolerate any act of fly-tipping within the Borough. The Borough will continue to be monitored for potential fly-tipping offences, and patrolling and responding to fly tipping will be undertaken. Any offenders will be prosecuted. We encourage members of the public to report fly-tipping.

The Council will continue to enforce against anyone responsible for fly-tipping.

Covid Test Kit - Disposal

Covid testing kits being used at care homes, schools and other educational establishments are classed as clinical waste and need to be disposed of appropriately. Corby and Kettering Shared Service are unable to facilitate the disposal of this waste. These establishments will need to contact their current healthcare provider to arrange appropriate collections or contact another private waste management company to arrange for specialist disposal.
