October 2019 workshop

Drawing the Portrait

This workshop will guide you through creating and drawing a pencil portrait. Participants will use a portrait photo provided at the workshop, although they can work on their own reference photo if required.

Cordell will provide advice on general head proportions and anatomy, including techniques to develop your drawing skills. The aim of the workshop is to give you the skills and the confidence in approaching portrait drawing.

You will learn how to use cut paper stencils laid on inked printing plates to create bold and colourful prints. The process explores layering shapes and colours and we will be printing on paper using a small portrable press.

Life drawing drop-in sessions are held on the third Wednesday of the month, 7pm - 9pm, at £10 per session. All abilities are welcome. Please bring your own materials and paper - Models and some easels are provided. No booking required.

Family History Sessions

Monthly at the Museum

Once a month, at 11am on a Saturday morning, local historian and professional genealogist, Andrea Pettingale leads themed Family History sessions to guide you in discovering your own family. Tickets £5 per person, £3.50 with a Kettering Leisure Pass. Booking is recommended.

Andrea also offers one-to-one Family History advice sessions which are £12.50 or £10.00 with a Kettering Leisure Pass per 30 minute session. Please note one-to-one sessions are available on the same dates, from 1pm onwards in consecutive order only. Booking is advised.
