Works without permission (enforcement)
The Enforcement Register contains a record of Planning Enforcement Notices issued since 1965. Where formal enforcement action is necessary an Enforcement Notice can be issued requiring:
- the unauthorised works or activities to cease
- the unauthorised works to be removed
- the development to be altered to be more acceptable
Enforcement Notices can be appealed which stops the whole process until the outcome of the appeal is known. Once an Enforcement Notice becomes effective it is a criminal offence not to comply with it.
