Ask for advice

We have a dedicated planning line and email for any questions that you may have in relation to Planning

01536 534316

Should one of our advisors be unable to answer your query, then the duty planner service is available for general planning advice about small scale proposals such as alterations to your home. However, the duty officer can't provide detailed advice on specific proposals and won't be able to advise whether a proposal requires planning permission or not.

For specific advice on a proposal you should use our:
Pre-application Advice Service

If you would like to know if your proposal requires
planning permission, please read the following advice:
Do I Need Permission?

The duty officer is available between 9am and 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am and 4pm on Friday by:

  • 01536 534316
  • Drop in service at the Council Offices (no appointment required)

If the duty planner is not available when you call and our dedicated team are unable to assist with your query, we will take a message and you will receive a call back.

Please note:

Any advice given by the duty planner does not indicate any formal decision by the council as local planning authority.

Any views or opinions expressed are given in good faith and to the best of ability, without prejudice to the formal consideration of any planning application following statutory public consultation, the issues raised and evaluation of all available information.
