Other HomeMove Information

Basic qualifying criteria:

  • You must be an existing Kettering Borough Council tenant downsizing by at least one bedroom from family accommodation into non-family accommodation.

    • Family accommodation is a house with 2+ bedrooms or a 2 bedroom flat with a garden.
    • Non-family accommodation is a 1 or 2 bedroom flat without a garden, sheltered accommodation, or a bungalow

The HomeMove Advisor will need details of:

  • your current property such as the address, size (no. of bedrooms) and type (flat, house, bungalow).
  • your household composition, including ages and sexes of children

  • type of property you are looking to move to

  • whether the household requires special adaptations for any disability or mobility issue

If you wish to move from a 3 bed family property to a smaller 2 bed family property, you will not qualify for the HomeMove grant. However, you will be placed in Band B on Keyways to help you find a move quickly.

The HomeMove Advisor will call you to assess your eligibility for HomeMove, they may also undertake a home visit to discuss the scheme and to complete a Keyways application. 

if you have rent arrears, or debts from rechargeable repairs you may still be eligible for HomeMove but you must be aware that any arrears or debts to the council may be deducted from the HomeMove payment you receive.
