Why we collect information about you

The Kettering Borough Council recruitment system will collect and store personal information you submit via this recruitment webpage.  The information you provide will allow the council to assess your application for employment.  The online recruitment system is provided by Kettering Borough Council and its third party supplier.

How will we use the information we hold about you?

You may be asked to provide certain information about yourself, including your name, contact details, date of birth, education and job history.  The information you provide will be used to assess your application for employment, to verify your information and conduct reference checks.

Some information you provide is mandatory in order for the Council to consider your job application.  Where indicated, some information is optional and you can choose not to complete these sections.  If you choose not to provide all of the data that is requested for your application, our ability to consider you as a candidate may be limited.

Data entered as part of an application is stored in the system and will be made available to you to re-use as part of a future application.

It is your responsibility to obtain consent from referees before providing their personal information to us.

If you accept employment with Kettering Borough Council, the information collected will become part of your employment record and used for employment purposes. Anonymised personal data will also be used by the Council for the purposes of monitoring equality of opportunity.

What is the basis for us to process your data?

By submitting your data you, the data subject, have given consent to the processing of your personal information for one or more specific purpose.  

The personal data you provide in your application and as part of the recruitment process will only be held and processed for the purpose of the selection processes of Kettering Borough Council and in connection with any subsequent employment or placement.
You have the right to withdraw your consent to the processing of your information at any time – if you exercise this right your application will be withdrawn from our recruitment and selection process.

Who we will share your information with

How long do we keep your records?

We will only keep your information for the minimum period necessary.  Unsuccessful application data will be held for a period of 1 year in order that you can access and reuse data in future applications and we can respond to statutory report requests or other legitimate purposes.

Successful applicant data will become part of an employment record and will be used for employment purposes.
