Business has a role to play in reducing its emissions and providing leadership in tackling climate change. Many have produced Statements on Corporate Sustainability setting out how they intent to reduce their impact on the planet. Like individuals and public organisations businesses need to look at their processes and activities to see how their use of energy and resources can be reduced or changed to minimise their impact on Climate Change.
There are a range of support organisations available both locally and nationally that can help businesses on this journey and to make this transition.
Carbon Trust – has been helping private and public organisations to accelerate the move to a sustainable, low carbon economy since 2001.
A Green Business Fund exists to support small and medium sized organisations (SMEs) to explore opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy costs.
Energy Saving Trust - devoted to promoting energy efficiency, energy conservation, and the sustainable use of energy, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions and helping to prevent man-made climate change.
SEMLEP – is the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership and has an Energy Strategy detailing the route map to secure clean energy to power business and housing growth throughout the region. Across the South East Midlands there are a number funding opportunities for energy projects.
