Council and Committees
The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) England Regulations 2012 came into effect on 10th September 2012. The Council can hold Executive meetings, or parts of meetings, in private if the subject matter contains exempt information as defined by Paragraphs 1-7 of the Local Government (Access to Information) (Variation) Order 2006 in respect of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.
The 2012 Regulations amended some aspects of the Executive decision-making arrangements that had been in force since 2000. The Regulations now make provision for members of the public to make representations if they do not agree that a meeting, or part of a meeting, should be held in private.
Private Meetings likely to be held in private and the reason(s) for a particular item to be classified as exempt.
