Report Suspected Fraud

All investigations of suspected benefit fraud within the borough of Kettering are undertaken by the DWP's Single Fraud Investigation Service and should be reported to them.

If you wish to report a suspected housing benefit fraud please telephone National Benefit Fraud Hotline: 0800 854 440 or report the suspected fraud online.

Kettering Borough Council will still investigate allegations of suspected council tax support fraud.

All investigations carried out by the DWP's Single Fraud Investigation Service or the Investigation Team at Kettering Borough Council are undertaken with due regard to the Codes of Practice, Equal Opportunity Policy and Prosecution Policy. At all times officers adhere to the legislation involved in the investigation of fraud, such as Police and Criminal Act 1984 (PACE), Data Protection Act 1998, Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 (CIPA), Human Rights Act etc.

Scam E-Mails or Calls

Please be aware of scam e-mails currently being sent to people all around the UK regarding their council tax.

The fraudulent e-mail advises people to provide their bank details so a refund of council tax can be provided.  Please be careful if you receive any phone calls of the same nature.

If you an receive an e-mail like this and you are unsure who it is from please ring us on 01536 410333 and we will check your council tax account for you.  Remember - if it sounds too good to be true it likely is, so please keep your personal details safe.
