Pay Your Council Tax
Using your Debit or Credit Card you can pay your Council Tax bill online. All you have to do is enter your Council Tax reference number (this is a 9 digit number which starts with 8 and is shown on your bill) and the amount you wish to pay.
Paying by Direct Debit is the simplest way of paying your Council Tax and gives you a choice of payment dates - either the 1st or 15th of the month. You can now easily set up a Direct Debit online. If your account is in arrears please contact our Response Centre on 01536 534235 before setting up the Direct Debit online. Usually, a full year's Council Tax will be split into 10 monthly instalments from April to January - we will confirm if these instalments need to change (e.g. if moving property).
Check Your Balance
You can check your balance via our Connect Online portal. Please note this is a separate website and needs a separate registration and log in details before it can be accessed.
Other payment methods are listed on the back of your bill. Paying by certain methods means there will be a delay of several days before payment reaches your Council Tax account. You will need to take this into account when making payment to ensure that it is credited to your account by the 1st of the month.
