At Kettering Borough Council, we are proud to offer a Choice Based Lettings Scheme to those in housing need. Operating sub regionally alongside the Borough Councils of Corby and Wellingborough, ‘Keyways’ is the one stop shop in securing a social tenancy in Kettering. In the current climate, more and more households are finding themselves in need of alternative housing and therefore it is essential we prioritise social housing for those who need it the most.
We have an exciting vacancy in our Allocations team that will give you the chance to become part of the fast-paced yet rewarding team that manage the day to day operation of Keyways. We are looking for someone interested in working three days per week as part of a job share arrangement. The successful candidate will be working 22 hours per week likely to be Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
As a Lettings Officer, you will be required to verify housing applications in line with the Housing Allocation Scheme; advertise vacant social properties within the Borough in order that applicants can express an interest; shortlist interested applicants and provide nominations to Kettering Borough Council or Housing Associations; maintain the housing register to ensure it remains up to date and provide basic advice and assistance to users of the Keyways scheme. However, this list is not exhaustive and you can be assured of both a challenging and varied workload.
Excellent communication skills are vital for this role, as you will be in contact with members of the public on a daily basis, as well as establishing good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including social landlords, and other statutory and voluntary agencies. As well as possessing the ability to work as part of a team, you will also possess the ability to work unsupervised, prioritise your workload and meet deadlines. You will have good numerical skills; possess experience of working in an office based customer focused environment; have excellent IT and keyboard skills and be committed to equal opportunities.
If you possess the necessary skills and feel you could play a key role in our team we want to hear from you.
For an informal discussion, please contact Rod Stair, Allocations Manager on 01536 535127 or Carly Hohn, Housing Solutions Manager on 01536 534240.
