Job Information

More than 20 per cent of households in Kettering Borough reside in privately rented accommodation and the ending of privately rented tenancies is the biggest cause of homelessness locally.

This post is an exciting opportunity for an experienced tenancy support worker to work alongside some of our most vulnerable customers that occupy privately rented accommodation and who may be at risk of homelessness. You will work in close partnership with internal and external partners to maximise opportunities to sustain existing privately rented tenancies and ensure that new private tenants are provided with the best chance of successful tenancies for the long-term.

If you want to make a difference and play an active role in changing people’s lives, then look no further. Situated within the Council’s Supported Housing Team, you will also work closely with our Housing Options and Private Sector Housing Teams who provide good quality housing solutions for customers in housing need. You will deliver one to one support to private tenants providing guidance and assistance to develop their social and independent living skills as well as make positive changes to their lives. You will help customers by providing advice on finances and budgeting, supporting with health and wellbeing and advocating and providing advice on any other issues which may be affecting a tenancy.

With a minimum of one years’ experience in a housing related support role, you will have experience of assessment, support planning and advocacy and an ability to work with vulnerable people in difficult situations and handle challenging behaviour. You will have excellent communication skills, an ability to work on your own initiative and an ability to form and develop good working relations with service users and both internal and external colleagues.

Additional Information

This role will involve working with vulnerable groups and successful applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) application form.
