Drawing Workshop with Jamie Boots

Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th April 2020, 10am - 4pm

All abilities welcome. All materials provided

Graphite pencil can be used to produce so much more than just a sketch. Using a pencil blunt or sharp, pressing lightly or hard and using a variety of tones, learn how to create the effect of fur and feathers, the texture of skin and the glassy look of an eye.

With the expert tuition from Jamie over the course of a weekend, you will learn and be able to practice new techniques to develop your drawing skills.

Drawing the Portrait with Cordell Garfield

Saturday 16th May 2020, 10am - 4pm

£50 Adults / £40 Kettering Leisure Pass Holders
All abilities welcome. Materials not provided.

Cordell will provide advice on general head proportions and anatomy, including techniques to develop your drawing skills. The aim of the workshop is to give you the skills and the confidence in approaching portrait drawing.

The workshop will guide you through creating and drawing a pencil portrait. Participants will use their own reference portrait photo of their own choice to produce their portrait.

Materials to be provided by participants are:

  1. Cartridge sketch pad A3 size
  2. Range of pencils - Grades H, HB, 2B, 4B & 6B.
  3. Putty rubber
  4. Small/pocket sized mirror
  5. A reference photo - Important requirements: minimum photo size 8in x 10in ideally 10in x 12in. Photo must not be a blurred image and should show good light and shade. Please ensure your photo is of good quality.

Mixed Media Seascapes with Catherine Matthews

Exploring a range of layered wet and dry media to create seascape paintings with experienced and qualified art teacher and professional artist, Catherine Matthews. Images are provided but it is always nice if people bring their own too.

How to Book onto a Workshop:

To book your workshop place, please contact us via email at museumandgallery@kettering.gov.uk or telephone the Gallery on 01536 534274. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and your place on the course is not guaranteed until we receive both a completed workshop booking form and data protection form plus the full course payment from you. 

Please fill in both a booking and data protection form and return these to the address below along with payment or alternatively visit the Gallery. Booking forms and data protection forms are available for download below or can be collected from the Art Gallery. If you are booking for more than one workshop, please note that a separate booking form should be submitted for each.
