The Environmental Health unit is responsible for inspecting all food premises in the borough, along with offering advice, information and training on food hygiene matters. The unit also deals with complaints relating to food purchased in the borough and complaints concerning conditions in food premises. Whilst the primary function of the service is to enforce legislative standards, advice, information and education are also important. A range of food safety related leaflets are available free to food businesses. To assist food businesses further the Food Safety Pack has been produced to enable them to put into place food safety management systems. 'Food News' is a food safety specific newsletter which has been introduced to keep businesses informed on local and national issues and is distributed free to all registered food businesses.
