Kettering Borough Council is launching it’s free Christmas tree recycling service.
The service provides free real Christmas tree recycling to every household in the Borough for two weeks beginning the week commencing the 9th January. To benefit from this service all households need to do is place their real Christmas tree alongside either their grey bin or red or blue recycling box on their normal recycling collection day*.
To find out more about recycling, including your collection day and what you can recycle and how please visit www.kettering.gov.uk/recycling or call or visit our Customer Service team who will be happy to help.
Kettering Borough Council is working with garden centres and Christmas tree sellers across the Borough to promote the free recycling collection service. When customers purchase their tree they will be given a small leaflet with details of the free recycling scheme to remind them just how easy it is to recycle their real tree.
The press are invited to join Santa and his Council helpers for a photo opportunity to launch the new recycling service at Bosworth's Garden Centre, in Burton Latimer on Tuesday 29th November at 10am.
Brendan Coleman, Head of Environmental Care at Kettering Borough Council said:
"Kettering Borough Council is always looking for new ways to help local people to recycle. By promoting this service through garden centres and Christmas tree sellers we are hoping to let everyone buying a real tree know just how easy it is to recycle it."
Speaking about the free Christmas tree recycling service Cllr Ian Jelley, Kettering Borough Council's Environment Portfolio Holder said:
"By collecting residents' real Christmas trees alongside their normal recycling we are hoping to make it easier than ever for people to recycle their real trees. There has been a fantastic response to the scheme from garden centres and Christmas fairs across the Borough and together we are hoping to tell nearly everyone buying a real Christmas tree just how easy it is to recycle it."
Adele Shelford from Bosworth's Garden Centre in Burton Latimer said:
"We are delighted to be working with Kettering Borough Council to provide local people with an easy hassle free way of recycling their real Christmas tree. Each year we sell around 1,000 real Christmas trees and it is great to be able to offer people this additional service."
