Urban Beach Volleyball: Bringing the Beach to the Streets!

The first ever Urban Beach Volleyball Tournament will be held this Saturday

Kettering Borough Council and Kettering Volleyball Club will be holding the first ever Urban Beach Volleyball Tournament on the 28 July at Kettering Market Place.

An opening Ceremony will be performed by the Kettering Cheerleading Academy at 10am. This will be followed by a junior school tournament at 10.30 - Medals and presentations at 1.30pm, Armed Forces and Local youth clubs tournament which starts at 2pm – Medals and presentations at 5pm and finally an evening tournament which starts at 5.15pm - Medals and presentations at 8.30pm.

Head of Community Services Valerie Hitchman says “Kettering is the home of volleyball and the Urban Beach Volleyball tournament being held on Kettering’s award winning market place makes it very unique tournament. 2012 is a very important year for sport and we hope the tournament will be a catalyst to more people taking up more sport this summer”
Portfolio Holder for Community and Culture Cllr Jonathan Bullock says “This will be the first time the Urban Beach Volleyball Tournament has been held in Kettering and with so many schools, clubs and organisations taking part it promises to be an action packed day”

Food and refreshments will be provided by local coffee retailer Java Java throughout the day and why not come along and try out the Wii Olympic sports village at the Parish Rooms or pick up some information about how to join some of the best local sports clubs in the borough.
Matt Roberts and the Finer Things will be playing live 5pm to 7pm
