To celebrate National Microchipping Month the Council are offering a discount on getting your pet microchipped

With National Microchipping Month well underway, Kettering Borough Council is reminding pet owners that their Environmental Wardens offer a low cost micro chipping service for cats and dogs at the discounted rate of £15. Wardens have been trained to deliver this service and are keen for local residents to take advantage of the service for their pets as part of a drive towards responsible pet ownership.

Microchipping gives your pet the best chance of being identified and returned if they become lost or are stolen and involves a tiny microchip being inserted under the animal’s skin which will have its own unique code. The chip is harmless to your pet and can be scanned and matched to the owner’s contact details from a database.

For more information or to request the Council’s microchipping service, residents should call Customer Services on 01536 410 333.

Shirley Plenderleith, Head of Environmental Health said,
“We are always keen to provide this service to pet owners as it can help ensure animals are reunited with their owners much quicker if their pet gets lost.”

Cllr Ian Jelley said,
“I would encourage all pet owners to take advantage of this value for money service, as it supports and promotes responsible pet ownership within the Borough.”
