Computers for Africa Appeal

Location: Former Wickes Building, 2 Linnell Way Telford Way Industrial, Kettering NN16 8PS

Time: 08:00 - 18:00

Cost: No Charge

Give your Computer a second life… Give a child in Africa a CHANCE in life!

After the success of our previous appeals in Kettering we will be running another appeal, details above.  Africa has the lowest rate of PC ownership per capita in the world.  Computers are very expensive and most people, even schools, can't afford them, meaning only the wealthiest have access to IT equipment and training.  The donation of your PC will help reverse this trend, so that as many African students as possible, even the poorest, will have access to IT equipment and training.  A single IT trained individual has the potential to earn enough not only to feed themselves but also their extended family for years ahead.  Here's how you can get involved:

·         Drop in at the Former Wickes in Kettering and give us your unwanted PCs (Pentium III or better), laptops, notebooks, monitors.

·         Invite your work colleagues, friends and family, to bring their computer donations to the appeal site. We also offer a free collection service for donations of five or more PCs on both days of the appeal - please call in advance to arrange this.

Seas the Moment

Location: Alfred East Art Gallery, Sheep Street, Kettering

Time: 10:30 - 17:00

Cost: Free

An exhibition of the photography by Gerry Coles and Reg Law.

The theme of the exhibition is the English coast, showing how neglect and decay can be turned into attractive images, when viewed throught the eye of the photographer.  The title of the exhibition is a play on words born out of the timing and the theme of the exhibition.

"In putting this exhibition together, we have travelled to many areas of the coast, looking for the right light and photographing subjects that most would pass by.  In doing this, we have needed to be creative and open our eyes and minds to what is around us and bring a different view of the coast to Northamptonshire, which is as far from the coast as it is possible to get."
