Kettering Museum and Art Gallery: Talks

Forthcoming talks at the Alfred East Art Gallery

'A Medieval Menageries, Animals in the Art of the Middle Ages' by Chloe Cockerill
Friday 24 May 2013, 1-2pm

From the fire breathing dragons and wyverns to cunning cockatrices and griffins the medieval mind was fascinated by weird and wonderful creatures. Even everyday animals like cats, dogs and pigs had strange habits and characteristics while weasels gave birth through their ears and lions mated with ants. Lively examples from bestiarys, painting, sculpture and wood carving.

The lunchtime talks cover art and history topics.

Light refreshments are available from 12.30pm and each talk lasts approximately 1 hour. Unfortunately, we cannot allow entry after 1pm.

Seats are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Tickets: £5.00 per person,

£3.50 for Leisure Pass holders

Telephone 01536 534 274 or call into the gallery.
