On 2nd July 2012, lots of local residents are expected to line the streets in the borough to share in the excitement of the torch relay and welcome the Olympic flame to the area.
The route will see the torch visit county landmarks Althorp House and the Eleanor Cross at Geddington, spend time in Northampton, Corby and Kettering, as well as visit smaller villages such as Isham and Dingley.
These locations are part of over 1,000 villages, towns and cities announced by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) through which the Olympic Flame will be carried by Torchbearers during the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay which is presented by Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung. LOCOG has worked closely with representatives from a number of sectors in Northamptonshire to devise the route.

Leader of Northamptonshire County Council Councillor Jim Harker said: "This is exciting news for everyone in the county and I am absolutely delighted that the Olympic Torch is spending a whole day in the county next year.
"It's a real honour to be able to witness the spectacle of the Olympic Torch Relay as it visits locations across Northamptonshire. The route that has been announced today includes a wide range of locations from the historic Eleanor Cross at Geddington to Northampton's bustling town centre, truly demonstrating the county's rich culture and heritage.
"LOCOG have planned the route so that as many people as possible are within 10 miles of the torch at some point so wherever you live or work, I look forward to seeing everyone come together to celebrate the Olympic spirit and mark the countdown to the games, not to mention to cheer on our local people who have been chosen to run with the Olympic Flame."
Sebastian Coe, Chair of LOCOG said: 'We are thrilled to confirm that these locations will act as host locations for the Olympic Flame, extending an invitation to people in Northamptonshire to welcome the Olympic Torch Relay during its journey around the UK. This is the UK's moment to shine and I want to encourage people Northamptonshire to start planning how they can be part of this once in a lifetime opportunity and show their support for the inspirational Torchbearers chosen to carry the Olympic Flame as we count down to the start of the Olympic Games."
