Find a home through Keyways
Applying for Social Housing
To apply for social housing in Kettering including Housing Association or Council housing you must register with our housing allocation scheme called Keyways. Available properties are advertised through this scheme and you will be able to apply for individual properties, once registered.
From November 2012, some important changes were made to our Housing Allocation Scheme. Households who are considered to be adequately housed will no longer qualify to join. Households must also have a local connection to the Kettering borough in order to qualify. These changes, as well as some others, are effective immediately. Further changes will be made when the new Housing Allocation Scheme is fully adopted in April 2013.
In partnership with Wellingborough and Corby Borough Council, Kettering Borough Council launched a joint housing register in November 2010. Applicants interested in living in social housing in any of the three council areas are now registered on this one housing register called Keyways.
Keyways is similar to the previous Kettering Keyways system of allocating available Council and Housing Association properties in Kettering. Rather than advertising vacant properties in Kettering only, the new scheme allows applicants to be considered for properties in all three council areas.
Keyways is a sub-regional scheme that allows you to be considered for housing across Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough. You can choose which properties interest you by registering a bid on the Keyways website. To participate in Keyways you must register on-line or visit one of our Customer Services Centres.
All available properties are advertised on the internet at www.keyways.org.uk and in a newsletter published weekly that you can pick up throughout the Borough at any of our Customer Service Centres. You can also view available property posters in the Council's Customer Service Centre.
