LDF Background Studies

Two Strategic Flood Risk Assessments (SFRAs) have been completed in line with the requirements of Planning Policy Statement 25 - Development and Flood Risk.

A Level 1 SFRA for the Boroughs of Kettering Wellingborough was produced in 2011. This SFRA provides an overview of flood risk in the two Boroughs giving due consideration to all sources of flood risk and to the implications of climate change, to inform development plans and development proposals.

A more detailed Level 2 SFRA was necessary in 2010 to support the production of the Kettering Town Centre Area Action Plan. This SFRA provides a very detailed assessment of flood risk, again giving due consideration to all sources of flood risk and to the implications of climate change. The Level 2SFRA covers Kettering town centre only and should be used to inform development proposals in this area. The information and mapping in the Level 2 SFRA 'overrides' the Level 1 data in this area.
