Kettering - Sister City Association

Our Association offers opportunities to visit the USA, hosted by an American family, and see at first hand the American way of life as Americans enjoy it.

On a group tour we usually visit other parts of the USA after a stay in Kettering Ohio. The Committee will normally make all the arrangements for you including flights, travel insurance, transfers to and from airports, hotel accommodation where appropriate, and, perhaps most importantly, accommodation with a Kettering Ohio family. In addition the Association will normally offer an element of subsidy.

While we probably cannot beat a "package" holiday for price members are rewarded with a different, better, experience. Our Sister City friends' hospitality is legendary with not only generous full board accommodation but also an eagerness to show you their fair City and other sights either individually or in tours organised by the Sister City Committee.

When a party from Kettering Ohio visits us you will have the opportunity of the pleasure of hosting members from Ohio and seeing our town through different eyes. The Association will organise some "official" functions and outings and you will have some time with your American guests to entertain them as you and they may wish, and to develop friendships. Not surprisingly many a lasting transatlantic friendship has resulted from our Association contacts.

Apart from visits to Ohio the UK Committee arranges a social programmed throughout the year including such things as visits to places of interest, a barbecue, in the past a car rally has been organised, and informal meetings in Kettering Borough Council's Ohio Room, decorated with Sister City award plaques and memorabilia. Some of our social functions have an American theme - for example we normally celebrate the American national holiday of Thanksgiving by meeting for a traditional turkey dinner, and celebrate the 4th of July Independence Day holiday in various ways.
