Council Tax Valuation

Most dwellings are subject to the Council Tax. There is one bill per dwelling, whether it is a house, bungalow, flat, mobile home or houseboat, and whether it is owned or rented.

Each dwelling has been allocated to one of eight valuation bands according to its open market value at the 1st April 1991. The Listing Officer at the Valuation Office Agency determines the bands.To check the band of any dwelling visit Directgov

The Council sets the level of the Council Tax for band D. Properties in the other bands pay a proportion of the band D charge. The Council Tax bill states which band applies to your dwelling.
