Northamptonshire sees, on average, around 1000 fly tipping incidents every month.  These cost taxpayers and landowners thousands of pounds to clear every year, they impact on our environment, are unsightly and can be harmful to children pets and wildlife.  Last year, it cost over £650,000 to deal with fly tipping incidents which was anything from a single black bag, a van load of industrial waste, a stack of discarded tyres....the list is endless.

Fly tipping is dangerous to the public, animals and wildlife, and is destroying our local environment. It costs local tax payers over £650,000 every year to deal with fly tipping.

Individuals who fly tip anywhere face fines of up to £50,000.

Householders

All of your rubbish is your responsibility. If you are a resident you need to use a registered waste carrier to take away rubbish that is not 'black bag' waste - if you don't you could be fined up to £5,000 if your rubbish is found fly tipped.

Businesses

If you are a business you need to use a registered waste carrier to take away business waste - if you don't you could be fined up to £5,000 and could get up to six months in prison if your waste is found to be fly tipped.

You can check online to make sure the waste carrier you use is registered. Trading Standards can provide advice and information on being registered as a waste carrier.

Landowners
