The ‘Love Your Local Market’ initiative is part of a wider campaign, spearheaded by national champion, Mary Portas to bring back a buzz to local shopping areas and high streets. It is hoped that local people will back this initiative and come along to show their support.

Many well-known entrepreneurs have used a market stall to develop and sell their products. It can be the first step on the road to success, being a cost effective and practical way of getting any prospective entrepreneur in front of the public with their product.

Valarie Hitchman Head of Community Services said: “Love Your Local Market’ gives retailers a great opportunity to flourish in a friendly, relaxed environment. Market stalls, have always succeeded in bringing people together to sell, share and socialise and are a fantastic testing ground for entrepreneurs introducing a new product.”

Cllr Derek Zanger, Portfolio Holder for Town Centre Regeneration, explains: “Market trading allows you to be flexible without being tied into expensive long-term property leases. The ‘Love Your Local Market’ offer for £10.00 is a great way for traders to test their offering in a low cost, risk-free environment.”
