As part of its Community Plan and State of the Borough, the council is focused on the promotion of social inclusion, through:
- Improving community transport provision and accessibility
- Improving services to older people and families with young children
- Improving access to voluntary sector services
Northamptonshire County Council has a team that focuses specifically on social inclusion and equalities, including disabled access, race equality scheme, gender equality and the Social Inclusion Action Plan.

Health and Fitness
The Keephealthy@Kettering Projects target older people and families with young children across the borough, with an aim to improving health in the local area.
Kettering Leisure Pass is a free pass that offers discount rates at various leisure and sports centres in the borough. Find out more

Travel Schemes
Travel Concession schemes from the council entitle certain people to travel by bus or taxi at a discounted rate.
The Kettering Area Transport Service (KATS) is available for use by anyone living in the rural towns and parishes of Kettering Borough, who find it difficult or impossible to use public transport. It could be used for journeys such as shopping, doctor's appointments, social and work trips. Passengers will need to join the service for a small membership charge of £22.50 per annum as from 1st April 2009, and the cost of the journey will be a standard fare of £2 for a single journey up to 4 miles, and 50p per mile thereafter.
