Valuation and Banding

Your property is placed in one of eight valuation bands by the Listing Officer at the Valuation Office Agency

The valuation bands as set 1st April 1991 (new properties are allocated a band by determination of the amount which the dwelling might reasonably expect to realise if it had been sold in the open market by a willing vendor on 1st April 1991):

  • Band A - up to and including £40,000
  • Band B - £40,001 to £52,000
  • Band C - £52,001 to £68,000
  • Band D - £68,001 to £88,000
  • Band E - £88,001 to £120,000
  • Band F - £120,001 to £160,000
  • Band G - £160,001 to £320,000
  • Band H - more than £320,000

The Council sets the level of the Council Tax for band D. Properties in the other bands pay a proportion of the band D charge. The Council Tax bill states which band applies to your dwelling.
